Diocesan Seminarians Present Bishop Deeley with Anniversary Cake and Card

KENNEBUNK---During a retreat at St. Anthony’s Franciscan Monastery in Kennebunk last week, seminarians of the Diocese of Portland, along with Monsignor Andrew Dubois (diocesan director of the Office of Seminarians), joined in the jubilee celebration of Bishop Robert Deeley.

“We presented a cake and card to the bishop to commemorate his fifty years of ordination to priesthood,” said Matthew Valles, a seminarian who attends Saint John’s Seminary in Brighton, Massachusetts.

Bishop Deeley was ordained to the priesthood on July 14, 1973, at his home parish of Sacred Heart in Watertown, Massachusetts. A variety of tributes and special events honoring the bishop’s amazing milestone have been held in recent weeks.
