Maine Parish Leader Teams Engaged in Christian Initiation of Adults and Youth Invited to Special Presentation

PORTLAND---A pair of special presentations (same session repeated twice) set for July aim to inform and solidify a further understanding of the foundational principles and practical actions of the process of Christian Initiation.

“It’s a program that will help these principles and actions become fully realized within the parish communities that call forth Christ’s disciples,” said Georgette Dionne of the Diocese of Portland’s Office of Lifelong Faith Formation.

Christian Initiation of Adults and Children: Why? Why? Why? will be offered both in person at the Chancery in Portland and online via Microsoft Teams on Wednesday, July 19, from 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. and Thursday, July 20, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Participants can choose the date and time that best fits their schedules.

The program will be co-facilitated by Monsignor Marc Caron, vicar general and moderator of the curia, and Georgette.

“It will include an essential Q & A that clarifies the process of Christian Initiation and why baptism is the cornerstone of all pathways to initiation; the language of initiation and the engagement of parish, sponsors, godparents; and the functions of the Office of Lifelong Faith Formation in support of parishes at the center of the process of Christian Initiation,” said Georgette.

To participate, register with your parish’s Christian Initiation leader who will share the Microsoft Teams link or email Georgette at [email protected].
