Monthly Leader Learning Sessions
Click to download overview and full 2022-23 schedule of sessions.
The Office of Lifelong Faith Formation staff facilitate monthly learning sessions for those currently leading parish efforts in catechesis, youth ministry, and sacramental formation. Parish and diocesan leaders will engage each other for one hour on a specific topic, following three movements modeled on the disciples' encounter with Jesus Christ on the Road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-35):
Listen: What are you discussing as you walk along? (Prayer, Introductions & Prompt Question about Local Experiences)
Learn: Jesus interpreted to them what referred to him in all the scriptures (Delving into Scripture, Tradition, Teaching & Best Practices)
Lead: they recounted what had taken place on the way and how he was made known to them (Conversation, Questions & Application)
WHEN: The sessions will usually take place on the 4th Monday of the month with options to participate in a session from 1-2 p.m. or 6:30-7:30 p.m. as individual's schedules allow.
HOW: Virtually via Microsoft Teams with links to connect sent via email in the week prior to each session. One session a month will be recorded for later viewing by request.
WHY: Leaders matter in helping people recognize and share their encounters with Christ! Regular focused skill-building over time is one of the proven ways to increase the confidence, competence, and effectiveness of leaders in forming missionary disciples.
