Over 12,000 Cookies Ready for St. Peter’s Italian Bazaar in Portland on Friday and Saturday

PORTLAND---Volunteers in Portland baked, decorated, and packaged a record number of Italian cookies, over 12,600, on Tuesday and Wednesday in advance of this weekend’s St. Peter Italian Bazaar.

“It’s a way to give back and help our parish stay strong,” said Nancy Goodwin, a parishioner at St. Peter Church for over 60 years. “We are blessed to have the help and support of the younger people who enjoy participating and working at the festival with the older generation serving as role models and mentors. We are so blessed for our community.”

All are welcome at the bazaar, which will be held the evenings of Friday, August 11, and Saturday, August 12, from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. outside of St. Peter Church on Federal Street in Portland. Saturday’s events will begin at 4 p.m. with a Mass at St. Peter Church celebrated by Bishop Robert Deeley. The festival features great Italian food, along with music and carnival games.
