Fort Kent Parish Garage Sale Raises Over $13,000

A weekend garage sale inspired generosity and goodwill with the proceeds benefitting the winter expenses at St. John Vianney Parish (St. Louis Church, Fort Kent; St. Mary Church, Eagle Lake; St. Charles Borromeo Church, Saint Francis; St. Joseph Church, Wallagrass; St. John Church, St. John Plantation).

The garage sale, held on August 11-13 at St. Louis Church, raised $13,376, which will be used to help pay the parish’s winter expenses.

“The parish decided to offer the remainder of the items left after the garage sale to the community which helped support this event,” said Jo Brann, bookkeeper at St. John Vianney Parish. “A ‘free stuff’ sign was posted by the road and all of the remaining items found a home.”

“I’m so thankful to the more than 50 volunteers who helped during the sale,” said Fr. Jean-Paul Labrie, pastor of the parish. “Words cannot truly express how much their time and effort are appreciated. It couldn’t have happened without them.”
