Qualifications:  Maine DOE Teacher Certification and CHRC fingerprinting are required.  Protecting Gods Children must be completed before the first day of school.  The qualified candidate should be familiar with the Hartford Curriculum.  A practicing Catholic is preferred.

Position Description:  St. Michael School in Augusta, Maine, is seeking a dynamic full-time teacher for Middle School Science and Social Studies, with strong classroom management skills and the ability to continue our curriculum as outlined in the Hartford Curriculum for Social Studies and Science. This is for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. Responsibilities:

  1. Classroom Management:
    • Enforce school policies, rules, and procedures to maintain a safe and respectful classroom environment.
    • Manage student behavior effectively and implement appropriate consequences when necessary.
    • Ensure that the classroom is organized, well-maintained, and conducive to learning.
  2. Instruction and Curriculum:
    • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that align with the school's curriculum and educational standards.
    • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
    • Implement effective classroom management techniques to maintain a positive and orderly learning environment.
  3. Student Engagement:
    • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere where all students feel valued and respected.
    • Encourage active participation, critical thinking, and creativity among students.
    • Utilize various teaching strategies, technology, and resources to enhance student learning.
  4. Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
    • Conduct formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress.
    • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and their parents/guardians.
    • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and behavior.
  5. Communication and Collaboration:
    • Establish clear communication channels with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
    • Participate in parent-teacher conferences and other school events as necessary.
    • Collaborate with other teachers, support staff, and administrators to ensure the smooth functioning of the school.

Salary Range:  Salary is based on experience and qualifications.
