Vacation Bible Schools

Youngsters will become anchored in the knowledge that Christ guides them through life’s storms, discover why we need to care for our common home, take a Bible blast to the past, and go on other adventures during Vacation Bible Schools offered at parishes around the Diocese of Portland this summer. They are a way for youngsters to learn about their faith, while having fun and making new friends.

Below you will find a list of some of the Vacation Bible Schools being offered. Please contact the parish for more information and keep in mind that registration deadlines are often a couple weeks ahead of time so supplies can be ordered.

St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Westbrook June 20-June 28, 9 a.m. to Noon

Children from kindergarten through Grade 5 are invited to attend a peace camp at St. Anne Church, 299 Main Street in Gorham. Children will learn to practice peace in their lives through music, games, crafts, and Jesus' example.

St. John Paul II Parish, Scarborough June 20-24, 8:30 a.m. to Noon

Go off the road for a Monumnetal adventure through the colorful canyons and sunbaked trails of the southwest during this Vacation Bible School, which will be held June 20-24 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 150 Black Point Road in Scarbrorough. The cost is $50 per child for children from kindergarten through Grade 5 or $35 for middle shcool students.

St. Michael Parish, Augusta June 20-24, 8:30 a.m. to Noon

Children in grades Pre-K4 through 5th grade are sure to have a "Monumental" experience at a Vacation Bible School that will be held in the hall of St. Francis Xavier Church on Route 133 in WIntrhop. The cost is $45 per child, which includes a VBS kit and T-Shirt.

Portland Peninsula & Island Parishes June 27-30, 9 a.m. to noon

Students in grades K-5 are invited to explore our "Great, Big, Beautiful World" during a Catholic Summer Camp for Kids, which will be held at St. Peter Church and church hall, 72 Federal Street in Portland. The camp will include music, prayer, Scripture, games, crafts, snacks, and more! The cost is $25 per child. Middle and high school volunteers are also welcome.

St. Paul the Apostle Parish, Bangor June 27-July 1, 9 a.m. to Noon

Hop onboard the Rockway Railway and enjoy Loco Motion Games during a Vacation Bible School that will be held at St. Joseph Church, 531 North Main Street in Brewer. Children from age 4 to those entering grade 5 are welcoem. Grades 6 and up are welcome to volunteer. There is a suggested donation of $10 per child, with a maximum of $25 per family.

St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, Sanford August 15-19, 8:30 a.m to 11:30 a.m.

St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish will be having a howlin' good time at a Monumental Vacation Bible School, the week of August 15-19. Join in celebrating God's Greatness at the Notre Dame Faith Formation Center, 10 Payne Street in Springvale. The cost is $25 per camper for youths in grades kindergarten to sixth.
