Sister Thelma Bouchard, RSR

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sr. Thelma Bouchard, RSR, who died late Wednesday, December 16, at the age of 86.  Sr. Thelma, also known as Mother Saint Bernice, celebrated 66 years of religious life last August. During those years, she taught in Frenchville; Millinocket; Biddeford; Sanford; Johnson, RI; and Plattsburgh, NY.  After her 35 year teaching career, she worked with young adults in Portland, accompanied persons with AIDS (just as the illness was becoming known) and established the Elizabeth Turgeon Ministries to reach out to those in need.  She extended that ministry to Mexican migrants while working in Ruskin, Florida, for a couple years.

Sister Thelma is especially remembered for her loving presence, listening heart, her encouraging and often challenging words, her advocacy and love for the poor, and her devotion to St. Joseph.

Please prayer for the consolation of the families (natural and religious) she leaves behind.

May her soul and the soul of all the faithful departed rest in peace.  Amen
