Sister Alice Beauchemin, SCIM

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sr. Alice Beauchemin, SCIM, formerly known as Sister Marie-Yvonne, who died at St. Joseph Convent in Biddeford on March 13, 2017 at the age of  94.  Born in Central Falls, RI, Alice entered the Congregation of the Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, also known as the Good Shepherd Sisters of Quebec, in Biddeford, Maine, in 1947.

Her first ministry was as a teacher.  She earned a bachelor's degree in education from Saint Joseph's College of Maine and went on to teach for 27 years at St. Theresa School in Methuen, MA, St. Joseph schools in Biddeford and Old Town, ME and in Donelson, TN.  She also taught at Lincoln School in Grand Isle, ME.

In 1977, Sister Alice left teaching to take up accounting and worked in the Business Office at St. André Health Care Facility, Biddeford, then in the Medical Records Department.    In retirement, Sister Alice rendered service to St. Joseph Community as receptionist and sacristan.
