In purchasing diocesan-wide access to the Journey to Emmaus High School Youth Ministry Curriculum from the Diocese of Arlington, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland agreed to:

  • only share the materials with parishes and Catholic schools in Maine. The materials include, though are not limited to, passwords for online access to the curriculum and electronic or printed lesson/session text with suggested activities and media options; and
  • minimize the possibility that the general public would be able to find the content online without going through the Diocese of Arlington. (which is why it is password protected).

To ensure we honor this agreement and maintain access to the materials for all within the Diocese of Portland, all users must agree to and abide by the following terms:

  1. Authorized Users Only
    • Pastors or Parochial Vicars:  Only those currently serving within the state of Maine
    • Catechetical and Youth Ministry Leaders: Only those people formally designated by a pastor or the diocese as a parish catechetical leader, youth minister, or Catholic school principal may request to use the curriculum in a specific parish, cluster or school within the state of Maine. After the leader has contacted the diocesan Coordinator of Youth Ministry from the Office of Lifelong Faith Formation, he or she must complete the online Terms of Use Agreement
    • Catechists: parish or school leaders may share the pdf or passwords for one or more semester with those responsible for leading lessons with teens in a specific parish, school or cluster within Maine. The includes teachers, youth group leaders, and parents who home school. Each person must complete the online Terms of Use Agreement prior to accessing the curriculum.
  2. No Online Posting: No part of the curriculum, other than links to the publicly available video materials, may be posted on a public website or any social media platform. Parish/School leaders may email pdfs of the lessons only to those who have already completed the Terms of Use Agreement AND are currently serving in a parish or school-sponsored activity within the state of Maine.
  3. Protect Passwords: Only share the passwords with authorized users who have already completed a Terms of Use Agreement. The passwords to the online lesson materials are shared by all users in the diocese so unauthorized sharing jeopardizes access for everyone.
  4. Consequences of Mishandling: If mishandling of the curriculum results in the Diocese losing access to any or all of the Journey to Emmaus High School Youth Ministry Curriculum, the individual may be personally liable for the cost of the corresponding program ($500 per semester or $4000 total) in addition to any copyright infringement to the Diocese of Arlington.

BY CLICKING “I ACCEPT” OR OTHERWISE ACCESSING OR USING ANY OF THE JOURNEY TO EMMAUS HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH MINISTRY CURRICULUM YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ, UNDERSTOOD, AND AGREED TO BE BOUND BY THE TERMS.
