Divine Mercy Sunday Celebrations - 2021

Divine Mercy Sunday is celebrated on the Second Sunday of Easter, the Octave of Easter, which this year is April 11, 2021. Below you will find a list of celebrations taking place in the Diocese of Portland. All Saints Parish, Brunswick

St. Mary Church, 144 Lincoln Street, Bath - A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will be held on Sunday, April 11, at 2 p.m. The gathering will begin with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, the opportunity for confession, and private prayer. A Holy Hour will begin at 2:30 p.m., hosted by Fr. Patrick Agbodi, SMA, who will also lead a recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet, readings from St. Faustina's diary, benediction, and more.

Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, East Millinocket

St. Martin of Tours Church, 19 Colby Street, Millinocket - There will be opportunities for the sacrament of reconcilation beginning at 2 p.m., followed by a Divine Mercy Sunday service at 3 p.m.

Christ the King Parish, Skowhegan

Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, 273 Water Street, Skowhegan - A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration, including a Holy Hour, adoration of the Eucharist, and confession will be held from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Participants can obtain a plenary indulgence for themselves or for a deceased loved one.

Good Shepherd Parish, Saco

Most Holy Trinity Church, 271 Main Street, Saco - A Divine Mercy celebration will be held on Sunday, April 11, starting at 2:30 p.m. The celebration will include a Holy Hour and the opportunity for confessions. 

Holy Family Parish, Greenville

Holy Family Church, 145 Pritham Avenue, Greenville - Following the 8 a.m. Mass, Paul Lessard will lead the congregation in an a capella recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

Holy Spirit Parish, Kennebunk/Wells

Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Auburn

Sacred Heart Church, 8 Sacred Heart Place, Auburn - A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will be held after the 11 a.m. Mass. It will include the Divine Mercy Chaplet and the display of the icon, blessed by St. John Paul II, in the sanctuary of the church.

Parish of the Holy Eucharist, Falmouth

Holy Martyrs of North America Church, 266 Foreside Road, Falmouth - A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will be held on Sunday, April 11, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The celebration will include veneration of the Divine Mercy image, adoration, recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet, benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, and reconciliation (confessions will be available from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. as well). The celebration will also be livestreamed at www.pothe.org.

Parish of the Holy Savior, Rumford

St. Athanasius & St. John Church, 126 Maine Avenue, Rumford -  A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration, "Jesus, I Trust in You," will be held on Sunday, April 11, from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. All are welcome.

Parish of the Precious Blood, Caribou

Holy Rosary Church, 34 Vaughn Street, Caribou - A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will include the opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m, exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at 2:30 p.m., the singing of the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3 p.m., and Benediction at 3:30 p.m.

Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Old Town

Holy Family Church, 429 Main Street, Old Town - A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will include a Holy Hour and the opportunity for confessions (2 p.m.) and the praying of the Divine Mercy Chaplet (3 p.m.).

Prince of Peace Parish, Lewiston

Basilica of Ss. Peter & Paul, 122 Ash Street, Lewiston - A Divine Mercy Sunday Celebration, held from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., will include the recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet, the Litany of Divine Mercy, and readings from Scripture and St. Faustina's Diary. There will also be opportunities for the sacrament of reconciliation. The prayer service will be livestreamed.

St. Agnes Parish, Pittsfield

A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will be held at St. Agnes Church, located on 238 Detroit Street in Pittsfield, beginning at 2:30 p.m. You are invited to gather for an hour to pray together to ask God for his mercy. Adoration will be offered from 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., when the Divine Mercy Chaplet will be recited. For more information, contact Connie at (207) 278-5430.

St. Brendan the Navigator Parish, Camden

St. Bernard Church, 150 Broadway, Rockland - A Feast of Divine Mercy Celebration will be held outdoors in the parking lot of St. Bernard Church on Sunday, April 11, at 3 p.m. The celebration will include exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Litany of Divine Mercy, benediction, and the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Outdoor confession will be available from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. The event will also be livestreamed at www.stbrendanparish.net. If attending in person, please park facing the church.

St. John Paul II Parish, Scarborough

St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 150 Black Point Road, Scarborough - A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will be held at 3 p.m. The celebration will include adoration, the Liturgy of the Word, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and benediction.

St. John Vianney Parish, Fort Kent

St. Louis Church, 26 East Main Street, Fort Kent - In celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday, St. John Vianney Parish will hold a Holy Hour with eucharistic adoration and benediction at St. Louis Church in Fort Kent rom 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. There will also be opportunities for the sacrament of reconciliation.

St. Joseph Parish, Ellsworth

St. Joseph Church, 231 Main Street, Ellsworth – All are invited to St. Joseph to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet in song before adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and silent prayer on Saturday, April 10, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, April 11, from 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

St. Joseph Parish, Farmington

St. Joseph Church, 133 Middle Street, Farmington – Eucharistic adoration will be held after the 10:30 a.m. Mass until Benediction at 4:45 p.m.  There will also be an opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation, and the Divine Mercy Chaplet will be recited at 3 p.m.

St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, Calais

Immaculate Conception Church, 31 Calais Avenue, Calais -  A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration will be held on Sunday, April 11, from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The celebration will include veneration of the Divine Mercy image, adoration, recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet, Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, and the opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation beginning at 2 p.m. The celebration will also be livestreamed on the parish's Facebook page.

St. Louis Parish, Portland

St. Louis Church, 279 Danforth Street, Portland - In celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday, St. Louis Church will have a holy hour with the Divine Mercy Chaplet, adoration, and confession from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. 

St. Mary of the Visitation Parish, Houlton

St. Mary of the Visitation Church, 112 Military Street, Houlton - In celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday, there will be exposition and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament beginning at 2 p.m., followed by the recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3 p.m.

St. Matthew Parish, Limerick

St. Matthew Church, 19 Dora Lane, Limerick - A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration featuring adoration, benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, and the Divine Mercy Chaplet will be held at 3 p.m. The celebration will also be livestreamed.

St. Michael Parish, Augusta

Sacred Heart Church, 14 Summer Street, Hallowell - A Divine Mercy "Sundaes" event will be held for junior high and high school students in the hall of the church from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The gathering will feature prayer, games, and ice cream.

St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 41 Western Avenue, Augusta - A Holy Hour with a Divine Mercy Devotion will be held at 3 p.m. It will also be available to view via livestream.

St. Paul the Apostle Parish, Bangor

St. Mary Church, 768 Ohio Street, Bangor - A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration beginning at 3 p.m. will include a Holy Hour, recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet and an opportunity to receive the sacrament of reconciliation.

Stella Maris Parish, Bucksport

St. Vincent de Paul Church, 60 Franklin Street, Bucksport - A Divine Mercy Sunday celebration, including the praying of the Divine Mercy Chaplet, will be held at 3 p.m.
