Over 35 Maine Churches Hosting Special Rosary Gatherings in May

During the month of May, in honor of Mary, the Mother of God, Maine churches are planning special gatherings and events centered on praying the Rosary. On May 13, 1917, three shepherd children named Lucia, Jacinta, and Francisco saw a vision of the Blessed Mother in Fatima, Portugal. They looked up to see, in Lucia’s words, “A lady, clothed in white, brighter than the sun.” The woman was holding a rosary and said to the children, “Do not be afraid, I will not harm you. I come from heaven.” Mary appeared to the children monthly, a total of six times, bringing a message of prayer, penance, and reparation. She urged them to pray the Rosary every day to bring peace to the world and an end to war.

The Rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 28, led by Knights of Columbus Council 334.

Bath
St. Mary Church, 144 Lincoln Street
The Rosary will be prayed each Saturday at 3:30 p.m. before 4 p.m. Masses.

Biddeford
St. Joseph Church, 178 Elm Street
The Rosary will be prayed in St. Anne’s Chapel each night at 6 p.m.

Biddeford
St. Joseph Cemetery, West Street
A Rosary for the unborn will be prayed on Tuesday, May 2, at 6 p.m.

Bridgton
St. Joseph Church, 225 South High Street
The Rosary will be prayed on Saturdays at 9 a.m.

Brunswick
St. John the Baptist Church, 37 Pleasant Street
The Rosary will be prayed on Sunday, May 7, at 10:35 a.m. preceding 11 a.m. Mass.

Cape Elizabeth
Fort Williams Park, 1000 Shore Road
A Rosary rally will be held near the flagpole on Saturday, May 13, at noon.

St. Bartholomew Church, 8 Two Lights Road
In honor of Our Lady of Fatima, St. John Paul II Parish offers and 8 a.m. Mass every 1st Saturday of the month, followed by recitation of the Holy Rosary, devotions, and the sacrament of reconciliation. The Mass in the month of May will be on Sunday, May 6. The Rosary will also be prayed on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7:30 a.m. preceding 8 a.m. Masses.

Caribou
Holy Rosary Church, 34 Vaughn Street
The Rosary will be prayed as part of First Saturday devotions on Saturday, May 6, at 3 p.m.

Fort Fairfield

The Rosary will be prayed on Sundays at 10:15 a.m.

The Rosary will be prayed before 7 a.m. Masses on Wednesdays and 4 p.m. Masses on Saturdays.

A Rosary rally will be held on Saturday, May 13. It will include confessions at 10 a.m., Mass inside the church at 11 a.m., and a Rosary rally on the lawn at noon.

The Rosary will be prayed at the church on Saturdays at 5 p.m. before 5:30 p.m. Masses.

A May crowning will be held on Saturday, May 6, at 1:30 p.m. The crowning will be followed by First Saturday devotions, a recitation of the Rosary, the Litany of Mary, and more.

St. Peter the Fisherman Parish will celebrate the Feast Day of Our Lady of Fatima on Saturday, May 13, at 8:30 a.m. with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, recitation of the sorrowful mysteries of the Rosary, and prayers to Our Lady of Fatima.

The Rosary will be prayed every Wednesday and Friday at 3 p.m. The Divine Mercy Chaplet will be prayed followed by the Rosary.

The Rosary will be recited daily at noon in the parking lot of St. Bruno - St. Remi Church by the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

All are invited to join in praying the Rosary on Mondays at 11:30 a.m., prior to the 12:15 p.m. Mass.

The Holy Spirit Parish Knights of Columbus councils will hold a Holy Hour, including exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, group prayer, a recitation of the Rosary, and time for reflection, on Wednesday, May 17, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The retreat will be preceded by a light meal to which all are welcome from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
