Vacation Bible Schools

Each summer, many parishes in our diocese sponsor Vacation Bible Schools for the children of the community. Below you will find a list of the ones being offered. Please contact the parish for more information and keep in mind that registration deadlines are often a couple weeks ahead of time so supplies can be ordered.

Corpus Christi Parish, Waterville June 20 - 24, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Corpus Christi Parish in Waterville will hold Vacation Bible School from June 20 – 24,, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the cafeteria of St. John Regional Catholic, 15 South Garand Street in Winslow. This year’s theme is Wilderness Escape. There is no charge.

Good Shepherd Parish, Saco June 27-July 1, 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Cave Quest is the theme of the Vacation Bible School, which will be held at Most Holy Trinity Church, 271 Main Street in Saco, from June 27 – July 1.  The Vacation Bible School is open for children in pre-K (if accompanied by a parent/guardian) through grade 6.  The cost is $40 for one child, $65 for 2 children, and $15 for each additional child.

Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Auburn June 20 - 23, 9 a.m. to Noon

Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Auburn invites children from pre-K to grade 6 to Catholic Kidz Camp, Parade Around the "Our Father.” The camp will be held June 20 – 23, 9 a.m. to noon at St. Philip Church, 2365 Turner Road in Auburn.

Parish of the Ascension of the Lord, Kittery June 27-July 1, July 18-22, 9 a.m. to noon

Parish of the Ascension of the Lord will hold two Vacation Bible Schools, both with the theme Cave Quest, Following Jesus, the Light of the World.  The first will be held at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 160 Agamenticus Road, South Berwick, from June 27, July 1, 9 a.m. to noon.  The second will be at St. Christopher Church, 4 Barrell Lane, York, on July 18-22, 9 a.m. to noon.

St. Benedict Parish, Benedicta June 27 - July 1, 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

St. Benedict Parish will hold a Vacation Bible School from June 27 - July 1, 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at St. Benedict Church, 1063 Benedicta Road, Benedicta.  The theme is "Hometown Nazareth, Where Jesus Was a Kid.”  There is no fee to attend.

St. Christopher Parish, Peaks Island July 13-16, 9 a.m. to Noon

Vacation Bible School will be held July 13 - July 16 at St. Christopher Church on Peaks Island. Students in grades K – 5 are invited to attend, and middle and high school students are invited to volunteer.  There will be lots of crafts, games, stories, and prayer. The cost is $25 per child.

St. John Vianney Parish, Fort Kent June 20-24, 1 to 4 p.m.

"Earthkeepers" is the theme for this year's Vacation Bible School to be held at St. Louis Church, 26 East Main Street in Fort Kent. It is a VBS based on Pope Francis' encyclical on the environment, Laudato Sí.  The VBS will be held June 20-24 from 1 to 4 p.m. The fee is $25 for the first child, $40 for 2, $60 for three or more from the same family.  

The registration deadline is June 1.

St. Mary of Lourdes Parish, Lincoln June 20-24, 9 a.m. to Noon

St. Mary of Lourdes Parish will offer Vacation Bible School at St. Mary of Lourdes Church, 142 Main Street in Lincoln.  The VBS will take place June 20 – 24, from 9 a.m. to noon. There is no cost.  To register, call the parish office at 207-794-6333. 


St. Mary of the Visitation Parish, Houlton July 25-29, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Kids are invited to take a Wilderness Adventure through the sacraments during a Vacation Bible School at St. Mary of the Visitation Church, 112 Military Street, Houlton, from July 25 – 29, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Children ages 4 - 10 are invited to participate.

St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, Scarborough June 27 - July 1, 8:45 a.m. - noon

Take a Bible Blast to the Past during a Vacation Bible School at Saint Maximilian Kolbe Church, 150 Black Point Road in Scarborough, from 9:45 a.m. to noon.  Children will learn, laugh and play. They will come to know what God’s love is, explore his everlasting love, and serve God by serving others.

St. Michael Parish, Augusta June 27 - July 1, 8:30 a.m. - noon

St. Michael Parish in Augusta will hold Vacation Bible School from June 27 – July 1 at St. Francis Hall, 130 U.S. Route 133 in Winthrop. This year’s theme is Egypt: Joseph’s Journey from Prison to Palace. The cost is $40, which includes a T-shirt, snacks, and other goodies.

St.  Paul the Apostle Parish, Bangor
July 18-22, 9 a.m. - noon
Experience a day at Cave Quest, a Vacation Bible School offered by St. Paul the Apostle Parish from July 18 – 22.  The VBS will be held at St. Joseph Church, 531 North Main Street in Brewer. Children from age 4 to grade 5 are invited to participate. There is a suggested donation of $10 per child with a maximum of $25 for a family.

St.  Peter Parish, Portland June 29 - July 2, 9 a.m. to Noon
Vacation Bible School will be held June 29 - July 2 at St. Peter Church, 72 Federal Street in Portland. Students in grades K – 5 are invited to attend, and middle and high school students, along with adults, are invited to volunteer.  There will be lots of crafts, games, stories, and prayer. The cost is $25 per child

St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, Sanford  August 8-12, 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Children are invited ot go on a Cave Quest and follow Jesus, the Light of the World, during Vacation Bible School, August 8 - 12, at the Notre Dame Faith Formation Center, 10 Payne Street in Springvale.  The cost is $15 per child.
