The Stations of the Cross have been prayed for centuries. They allow Christians who are unable to make a pilgrimage to the Holy Land to spiritually follow in the steps Jesus took from judgment to crucifixion and burial. The 14 stages begin with Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane and conclude when His body is placed in the tomb. Although the Stations of the Cross traditionally follow the same path, different prayers may be used. For more on praying the Stations of the Cross, including an audio version, visit the U.S. Bishops' website.
