Saint Joseph's College
Academic Excellence in a Magnificent Setting
Saint Joseph's College of Maine is a Catholic liberal arts college that nurtures intellectual, spiritual, and social growth in students of all faiths within a values-centered environment. "You become a better person here, not just a better student,” is how one student described his experience at Saint Joseph’s. The college was founded in 1912 by the Sisters of Mercy.
There are 1,050 students enrolled and, even though the freshman class is the largest in history, class sizes are still small. It means teachers can get to know students and students can get to know teachers.
Saint Joseph's offers 40 academic programs, along with internships, community service projects, lab research and field trips. The honors program and study abroad opportunities at 254 colleges in 36 countries complement the traditional academic offerings.
At St. Joe's, 85% of the student population lives on the 350-acre campus which sits on Sebago Lake, with its own private beach and breathtaking views of the White Mountains. Despite its rural setting, the city of Portland is just a half hour away and Boston is located only about two hours away.
The college also features many extracurricular activities including the Dance Club, High Adventure Club, Campus Choir, Environmental Awareness Club, The Producers multimedia club, the student newspaper, and the Student Senate.
Come visit our campus! In addition to our normal tours, we offer open houses for juniors. At the open house, we give prospective students the chance to take a tour, meet with faculty and current students, and hear about the admission process. To schedule an appointment for a tour or open house, contact the Office of Admissions at (800) 338-7057 or visit our Web site at www.sjcme.edu. We hope to see you soon.
